AUGUSTANA

The Album All The Stars And Boulevards
The Track "Boston"
The Label Epic
Liner Notes Road dogs Augustana proudly sport second generation pop/rock influences on their major label debut All the Stars and Boulevards, a musical storyboard of the young band hanging out in places like New York, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Boston, Chicago and San Diego. The seed was planted in Greenville, Illinois where West Coast native lead singer and songwriter Dan Layus met fellow music major Josiah Rosen in college. The two shared an appreciation for bands like Counting Crows and Radiohead and decided to form their own group, Augustana, which they think is Latin for something like "a small glimpse of hope." Layus and Rosen added Jared Palomar on keyboards and Justin South on drums. Before long, Augustana was auditioning major label showcases in New York and Los Angeles.
After being signed to Epic, they entered the Atlanta studio of big-time producer Brendan O'Brien (Bruce Spingsteen/Pearl Jam/Stone Temple Pilots/Neil Young). O'Brien helped define the band's nuanced Brit-pop sound. As Layus says, "Everyone varies on what they really love and what they listen to. But I think we meet in the right places." Epic is committed to breaking this band into the mainstream, launching it from within the AAA community. The first single is the catchy mid-tempo tune about a guy moving from Southern California to "Boston," complete with an irresistible dramatic Coldplay-style piano intro, soaring vocals and power chords. Oh, and did we mention that the song is currently taking off at the format, led by airplay in, appropriately enough, San Diego and Boston. 'A small glimpse of hope,' indeed.
The Musicians Dan Layus, vocals, piano, guitar; Josiah Rosen, lead guitar, vocals; Jared Palomar, bass, keyboards, vocals; Justin South, drums
