Liner Notes
Okay, does this line sound vaguely familiar? "I didn't even think about playing music as a living, but one of my songs was used in a surfing documentary...and the response was totally unexpected! People started calling, asking where they could buy CD's and where I was playing. At that time I didn’t even have a CD, I had never even played a show!"

Fast forward a few years to the summer of 2005 as Virgin Records releases Twentythree (yep, that's her age) by a surfing singer-songwriter from Southern California named Tristan Prettyman. Major market Triple A stations begin spinning the advance single, "Love Love Love," led by hometown KPRI San Diego. Her boyfriend Jason Mraz guests on the album. Best known for backing Norah Jones, Jesse Harris plays guitar and Lee Alexander plays bass guitar on the record. Although she's played live for less than two years, Prettyman has already opened for Mraz, G. Love and Special Sauce, Howie Day and John Mellencamp. One of her earlier songs was used in the film, Shelter. She recently won Best Acoustic Artist at this year's San Diego Music Awards. "Love Love Love" is already a major hit in Japan. As Twentythree lands in stores, Prettyman is set to perform a showcase for the nation's Triple A programmers on Thursday night, August 11th at the upcoming R&R Boulder AAA Summit.

Quote
"Is it too simplistic to say Prettyman is the female Jack Johnson?"
Entertainment Weekly

"A blend of acoustic roots and pop hooks recalling the less jammy, more mainstream sides of Ben Harper and Dave Matthews."
Guitar World

"Tracks such as the pensive 'Song for the Rich' and the slightly snappier 'Shy That Way' - a duet with Prettyman's beau, Jason Mraz - have a gentle charm that should allow this former competitive surfer to stay afloat under the pop radar."
USA Today

Tour
On Tour in September/October With John Butler Trio. Tristan Prettyman appears Thursday night 8/11 at Club R&R at the Boulder AAA Summit.
